Underwear Shoot

Last Sunday I had local lad and full time swimmer, Jamie Coulter in the studio.
The idea was to shoot some underwear images but also include some promotional shots of him in his swimming gear.It was an excellent session and hopefully there will be some more in the future.
(For the geeks! - Elinchrom Style 600RX with Rotalux strip boxes & Arri 300 fresnel)

FREE PORTRAIT SESSION ANYONE?

I'm looking to trial a new portrait session that's not really covered in the

U.K.

It's called SENIORS. No; not portraits for OAP’s!!

It's a genre of photography that's been really popular in the

U.S.A.

for decades and is dedicated to high school students looking for a portrait to include in their yearbook.

Nowadays it's a very modern and stylish affair, almost like a fashion shoot with fun, vibrant images, bursting with life and colour.

So what's the offer? Well I'm looking for males/females aged around 15-18 who are willing to have a FREE test shoot with me. In return you will receive a CD containing 4 high resolution images from your session to either use for prints, Facebook or anything else you can think of. The shoot may be local or perhaps in Edinburgh, we'll wait and see. I only intend to carry out a few test shoots, so the offer may not last very long.

As I am in the process of designing the business model just now, I really need to gauge the level of interest and see if Senior portraits are marketable in this country. If not then I may just make it teen fashion shoots!!

Edinburgh Location Shoot

I had an excellent shoot last week with Davie Armit. The location was Edinburgh, in and around the Lothian Road / Morrison Street area. The weather was also fantastic which encouraged a mix of natural light and flash to produce some very stylish urban images.
I have arranged further shoots with Davie over the coming weeks, so keep checking back for more!

Location Photo Shoot

A few of weeks ago I was contacted by a young local model, Connor Batts via Model Mayhem.

Studio Session With Arri Fresnel Lights

After several years of shooting with strobes in the studio I decided to move to a continuous light source with the Arri 300 Junior fresnel light.
The quality of light that the Arri produces is just amazing! It's such breath of fresh air to shoot exactly what you see. The fresnel lens focuses from flood to spot and is extremely versatile.
Build quality is also exceptional but they have to be, especially when you think that that Arri's are used the world over on film sets of big production movies.
A slight downside is that Arri's do get hot and have to be handled carefully, however this becomes insignificant when you see the final results!
